Senior Student Representative Council (SRC)
At the end of each year, candidates for the position of senior SRC are nominated from the Year 5 classes. A final twenty four candidates are selected by grade peers. An election is held and twelve representatives are elected by the students. These twelve (six girls and six boys), then meet and elect the school captains and vice-captains. They hold their positions for twelve months in which time they stand as student models and assist in organisational matters.
Student Council
Senior SRC are of course automatic members of the Student Council along with two elected members from each class within the school. Other children may attend Student Council meetings as an observer. The council meets regularly with the Teacher Facilitator and the agenda comes from matters raised in classes or the Council meeting.
Assemblies
Infants: Each week grade assemblies are held at the Infants School. In year 2 leadership is encouraged where classes take turns to organise and run the assembly and share items of work and perform for their peers. At all grade assemblies achievements are celebrated in the form of merit awards. Positive behaviour is recognised with a class visit for a week by the grade mascot. Children take part in group singing, news of upcoming events is given and school values and rules are reinforced.
Each week a K-@ assembly is held where mention is made of important issues relating to Infants school, the flag is raised and the National Anthem is sung.
Primary: Each week there are formal assemblies, for the Junior Primary and Senior Primary school. The national anthem and school song are both sung at these assemblies and the school prayer is said. Often a class will share with their peers a unit of work they are doing through residing, music or drama. Parents are most welcome to attend these weekly assemblies.
Children who have gained courtesy or citizenship points for the week are recognised, while those who have progressed a stage with "Take It To The Top" are awarded their certificates of recognition as are children who have gained their reading awards. News of upcoming events and recognition for good sportsmanship is given.
